How to Make Jam

Making your own jam is simpler than you might think, and fresher tasting than the store bought stuff!  Follow our instructions for how to make jam:

  1. Get a package of pectin, available in most grocery stores, and read the instructions on quantities
  2. Boil your jars in water for 10 minutes to sterilize them
  3. Wash the fruit or berries and prepare them (remove pits, stems, etc)
  4. Crush the fruit and strain the juice with a jelly bag
  5. Bring the juice and the pectin to a boil in a saucepan, stirring constantly
  6. Add sugar, boil according to directions on pectin package
  7. Pour into jars, seal jars, and immerse them in boiling water bath for another 10 minutes
